Zafety Lug Lock® Wheel Lug Nut Security
Save Time and Money With Zafety Lug Lock®
The independent laboratory tested Zafety Lug Lock® helps prevent potential wheel loss by using the resistance between two nuts to minimize their ability to rotate and loosen, a safety product the transportation industry has needed for a long time:
- Pre-trip inspection requires secure wheel lug nut confirmation
- Rules apply to all public transit & commercial buses, trucks, trailers
- Provides a clear, visual check of lug nut position

Innovative Function
Most wheel nut safety products allow the lug nut to loosen first and only then alert drivers to dangerous conditions. Zafety Lug Lock® uses a proprietary design that lessens the ability of two adjacent lug nuts to rotate and become loose. This reduces the risk of potential wheel loss and the possibility of expensive wheel damage.

WHEEL NUTS LOOSEN AS A RESULT OF TEMPERATURE CHANGE, WHEEL END VIBRATION AND SURFACE CORROSION.
Zafety Lug Lock® is fabricated from design engineered plastic that has been independently tested under varying temperature and vibration conditions with no evidence of lug nut loosening and with no external damage or physical degradation (EXOVA, formerly Bodycote Testing Group, report no 08-003-C0185). Zafety Lug Lock® is available in 2 sizes for hub piloted and standard 10 stud wheels with 1-5/16 inch (33mm) or 1-1/2 (38mm) nuts on 3-1/2 inch stud centers and 10 stud hub piloted wheels requiring 1-5/16inch (33mm) nuts on 4-1/8 inch stud centers.

Zafety Lug Lock® applications are available for smaller vehicles having 8 stud wheels with 1.0 inch (25mm) or 7/8 inch (22mm) nuts on 2-1/2 stud centers.
Zafety Lug Lock® comes in two formats: Standard Formulation suitable for wheel end temperatures up to 300⁰F (149⁰C) and a High Temperature Formulation designed for severe stop and go braking with a temperature range up to 450⁰F (232⁰C).

Design Engineered Plastic Composition
The raw materials that are used in the manufacture of Zafety Lug Lock® have a long history of engineering applications involving extreme environments, both in temperature ranges, and in chemical exposures.
These materials are blended in a proprietary ratio to complete the Zafety Lug Lock® design engineered plastic composition. The resulting product is chemically inert and resistant to intermittent and continuous exposure to the range of chemicals typically found in automotive and transportation applications, including the following:
- Road salt
- Liquid calcium chloride
- Hydraulic fluid
- Gasoline
- Transmission fluid
- Windshield washer alcohols
- Iron oxides
- Radiator fluid
- Locktite
- Diesel fuel
- Ethanol alcohol
Most importantly it has a high strength to weight ratio, and the design has been proven in independent vibration testing to retain lug nuts from rotation in operating temperatures ranging from -40⁰F (-40⁰C ) to +122⁰F (+50⁰C).
Zafety Lug Lock® in the standard formulation is functional with wheel end temperatures up to 300⁰F (149⁰C) and the high temperature formulation for severe stop and go braking is functional with wheel end temperatures up to 450⁰F (232⁰C).
